Bow Hill Camp, West Sussex

Bow Hill Camp is a Late Bronze Age rectangular enclosure of about one acre (0.4 hectares). This is not a hillfort as such – its location and design may hint at a less than functional nature. The site is in close proximity to a series of cross-dykes which close off a fair portion of the hilltop, and a number of impressive round barrows known as the ‘Devil’s Humps’. A little further along the ridge lies Goosehill Camp, an Iron Age enclosure that displays design characteristics more usually associated with enclosures in the South West of England.
