Worleberry Camp Hillfort, Somerset

Worelbury Camp hillfort is a large, multivallate Iron Age promontory hillfort, with stone-built ramparts up to 20ft high on the West, South and Eastern sides. The defences for the Northern side are provided by a steep cliff. An excavation in the early 20th century uncovered a large amount of storage pits, some of which contained animal and human remains, and a variety of weapons and pottery.

Human remains – totalling around 18 individuals – have been discovered in the ditches, many of which showed indications of a violent demise.
