Sweetworthy Camp Hillfort, Somerset

Sweetworthy Camp hillfort is a circular, univallate Iron Age hillslope enclosure (see Trendle Ring for comparison). It is generally well preserved, but for the damage caused by the construction of a leat in the 19th century. More of a ‘defendable’ structure than defensive. It is relatively small, enclosing an interior of around three-quarters of an acre (0.3 hectares). The original entrance is probably on the North West side.
