Hengistbury Head, Dorset.
Hengistbury Head hillfort, was a defended port or entrepôt. Defences consist of a substantial double dyke system cutting off the ‘neck’ of the promontory. There is also a linear defensive earthwork 200 metres to the East of the double dykes, which is thought to predate them.
