Calleva Atrebatum, Hampshire

Calleva Atrebatum. Not a hillfort, but an oppidum too important leave out of any assessment of the Iron Age in this area. Though it is best known for its Roman phase, Calleva has its origins in the Late Iron Age, during which it was a major centre. The Insula IX Excavations conducted by Reading University have been uncovering some very interesting information indeed.
