Unfortunately Highbury Hill hillfort has been damaged by quarrying. Skinner, writing in the early part of the 19th century, remarked that some silver Roman coins were found during hedge repair work on the hill, and that they were subsequently sold to a Bristol dealer. The site was rediscovered by Peter Fowler in the 1970s, and encloses an area of around three hectares.
